The Community Bible Deliverance Kingdom Ministries was birthed through prayer and fasting. From the onset, in 1981 its seven members gathered in the home of the founder, Elder Kenneth Porter, for prayer services, shut-ins and Bible study.
After three months, the church moved to a small building on 56th and Chancellor Streets in Southwest Philadelphia. Within four years the church outgrew the Chancellor Street location. People were seen sitting on top of cars, on the ground, in folding chairs, and standing outside of the church in order to hear the preached Word of God.
In August 1985, the Lord lead Pastor Porter to purchase a building at 3951 Haverford Avenue in the heart of West Philadelphia. In a matter of weeks, the members of the church transformed this old dilapidated movie theater into a pleasant sanctuary where God ordained His name to dwell.
The ministry as a whole continues to serve as a refuge for many families, elderly and youth in its community. Elder Porter has implemented outreach initiatives such as the daily food giveaways, clothing give-a-ways, youth mentoring programs, community counseling and support programs, daily prayer clinics, prison and convalescent home ministries, and international and domestic missions outreach.
From1986 until 2004, Pastor Porter consistently hosted the Hour of Divine Guidance Radio Broadcast, which could be heard each Sunday from 5-7 PM on WDAS 1480 AM emanating live from the sanctuary. The broadcast reached prisons, senior citizen homes, convalescent homes, mental institutions, and the homes of many who might never have entered the doors of a church. More than 250,000 lives were impacted on a weekly basis through this evangelistic ministry.
In September 2006, the name of the ministry was officially changed to Community Bible Deliverance Kingdom Ministries Inc. As the ministry continues to steadily grow, its main objective remains the same:
As we continue to run with the vision, in 2018 the Lord lead and directed Dr. Kenneth Porter, who was inspired by the Holy Spirit, to move forward to further expand the ministry to a global capacity by fulfilling the diversities of end-time ministry.
It was now time to recalibrate as well as change the name of our ministry, and yet Dr. Kenneth Porter is the original founder of Community Bible Deliverance Kingdom Ministries connecting over to Pathway To Purpose Kingdom Ministries.
